Resolutions

Every year I get tricked into making a new year's resolution. I don't know why I bother, they never work and seem to only make me feel worse every January first when I realize how horribly I have failed and how I will never accomplish these ridiculous goals because I am lazy.

"But this year will be different!" I whine to myself, "You really mean it this time!"

And then I am all, "No, I am sorry self, but you are just never going to learn to cook, that shits not happening."

And then inner me that hasn't yet learned that optimism is stupid is all "But, don't you see, if you give up all together and no longer feel the guilt you will get so out of control they will have to make a tv special about you on TLC.... Do you want a TV special on TLC?"

And then I burst into tears and relinquish control to the tiny spec of optimism and say between sobs "Okay, what do I have to do this year?"

And then it gave me the following list:

  1. Stop whining you lazy bastard. You can't complain that shits not happening when you aren't doing anything to make it happen.

  2. Make things happen.

  3. If you don't want to be fat anymore, get off your ass and exercise.

  4. If you hate your job and want to be a writer, write a book and try to sell it.

  5. If you don't want to be irrationally angry all the time... That you're on your own you crazy bastard.

Then as I glare at my inner self and realize that its sort of right. This year, I need to try to make things happen.

I want to be a writer, so I need to write. I want to lose weight so I need to exercise. I wish I were less angry, but I feel like then I would lose all that lovely charm that you come back for each and every time I post some bitter rant about teenagers or toothbrushes. My irrationally angry nature will one day pay my way so that can stay. Another thing I need to do, is accept myself for what I am: An irrationally angry and bitter weirdo who is getting nerdier the old she gets and who may never actually accomplish any of her goals but will continue trying for as long as the slight morsel of optimism stays alive in that dark scary place where the good parts normal people have hide in me in fear of my personality.

That's a really long run on sentence that will not be corrected. Editing can be next years problem.

I haven't loaded my sketchbook software yet so no pictures. I will do that tomorrow.... Probably... Maybe... We'll see... No promises... I am already getting lazy and its only 5 days into the year... This is not looking so good.

52540

I made a typo on my Facebook. Its only 52540 not 53. whoops. I am not changing it because that will make me sad.

Moral of the story: I am done my Nano Novel. Problem with this is that its early. That sounds like it could be a good thing but I am a bit competitive, but only against myself and last year me kicked this year me's ass.

Last year me made it to 50k on day 14, this year it took me until the 18th. also last year me didn't stop there, but continued on until the novel was 93k words. There is not 93k for this years book so that's not really the end of the world. The main thing that I am sad about is that my average words per day chart is going to become merely average. But I am done, so there's nothing more to add.

Good thing about this: I have extra time for the various other crafts/editing I had planned. Because I am an idiot apparently and think that christmas time isn't busy enough without having 200 different projects on the go. Hopefully people like home-made things because that's what several of you are getting! Well some.. I found some cool pre-made things that you will receive.

However, the biggest and most awesome joy about being done Nano: I can focus more on CHRISTMAS!

If you couldn't tell, I am a big ol'Christmas enthusiast. not because I am religious, because I really am not, but I think it is because I like a good game. The most challenging game ever is: What do you get ____? In which you have to figure out what you are going to buy all the important people in your life that they don't already have, someone else hasn't bought them, and actually want.

It is nearly impossible for so many people, but the moment you find the right gift its a moment of pure happiness, followed by several weeks/days (depending on when you get it) of panicking they wont like it.

See, where a lot of people whine about the commercialization of Christmas, I thrive on it. If there is one thing that I am sometimes sort-of good at, it's getting good gifts. I am not good at expressing feelings or understanding dramatic situations, but if you are in the market for a Monty Python gag gift, or an Xmen homemade sweater, I am your gal.

The best thing about finding the perfect gift is that it doesn't matter AT ALL how much it costs. The best gifts come from inside jokes. Take the book me and Crystal wrote for Sandy two years ago. It was a short and weird book that literally came to be because I made a weird noise while holding a horse statue. We left the store without it and then that night it all clicked. I needed to write a story about that ridiculous horse, name him Fierce and then have him encounter all kinds of weird situations. I then went, bought the horse, and informed Crystal that she was helping me whether or not she wanted to (Obviously she did because who doesn't want to write a story about a Fierce horse?) and then in several 2am writing sessions, Fierce was born. The weirdest book you will NEVER read (unless you are one of the 4 cousins, then you better memorize it because it's just going to be a part of our lives forever).

(This post is weirdly long but I owe you 19 days worth so I am going to keep typing.)

So Crystal and I wrapped up the book underneath the giant horse statue, and stared at Sandy probably with the most creepy and excited faces ever, and she pretended o think the horse was genuinely awesome. As if the thing her cousin and sister were so excited about was an angry horse. She probably does actually like it because it's a horse and its Sandy, but that was just the side gift. As she was holding it and all "Ooo this is nice-ing" we were like... Not done sandy, open the rest. Then I think I heard a sigh of relief and she found the smaller package in the box. (Side note, wrapping that horse was damn near impossible. To find a box big enough involved much effort)

She opened the little paper back and it took her a minute of looking between the book and the Giant horse (as I had taken a picture and made it look all fancy for the cover) and then finally reading the "by Tanya and Crystal" line she simply said "You wrote me a book?" and then laugh/cried. And then I almost cried. But that would be dangerous because my circuit board would need to get replaced and the Christmas rates are ridiculous.

There is nothing like making someone cry... of joy. Not sadness that's just mean. But seeing someone so happy their eyes start leaking is just a super great feeling. I am glad Sandy has the ever-important gene from our family in which laughter at too high of intensity results in tears almost immediately.

So, this is a long-ass post that pretty much sums up to: I like to make people cry. That can't be it? I like Christmas? Yes.. that's probably less offensive (sort of)

Welcome back Tanya... you are stranger then ever.

My captions aren't working for this picture so: This is the actual cover to the book you will never read. It is a picture of the very big and extremely menacing statue of Fierce.

Squirrel Attack

Hello everyone!

I didn't update yesterday due to a traumatic event that happened to me.

You see, like the anti-social monster I am, when I am invited to work functions I immediately find a way out of it. Yesterday was no different, except that Karma bit me in the ass.

I fled the building prior to the commencement of the cupcake party and headed towards the rexall so I could get bus tickets and hopefully poptarts. I wandered around there for a while, attempting to kill time so that I wouldn't arrive back at work half way through their cupcake party because while leaving before the party is a bit rude, showing up halfway through is even worse. I think, I wouldn't really know because I am too socially stupid to understand proper cues. Anyways, I wandered, found poptarts, got my bus tickets and then decided to go sit in the food court area so I could sit and write for a while.

Then I remembered I had no pen because I unloaded them all at work so I would have some of my good pens to use. I was still going to go sit down but as I approached the food court it was completely full. Also it was really loud so I would be useless there.

I walked back to my building but it was still too soon to go in because there was no way they would be done cupcake-ing yet. I awkwardly sat on an empty bench outside and started texting anyone who I could hope to be awake and not too busy so that I wouldn't just be sitting and staring blankly at the outdoors. That is acceptable in places where there is nature and pretty things to look at. Not downtown where all you can look at is Tim Horton's and a woman coughing.

This is when it happened. As I was texting people who weren't answering, I was viciously attacked. Not only was I viciously attacked, but it was by a murderous squirrel. Traumatic I know.

Here is how it happened. As I sat there minding my own business, a large brown squirrel ran up directly from under my seat. I was lucky enough to have been sitting cross-legged on my bench because its comfy. He stopped just in front of the bench so that I could see him, he turned to me and growled. Simply the warning from what was to come. Then, I suppose because I hadn't run away as he had suggested with the menacing growl, it leapt at my throat. Teeth reached my skin and dug in. It held on solidly as I flailed to remove its death grip on my jugular vein. I could feel my life slipping away as the blood poured over the creature. Apparently the blood was more than it could take as I heard it beginning to choke on the excess liquid invading its throat and nostrils. It let go for only a moment to spit out some of the blood and in that moment I was able to bring all my energy to my left arm and reach across and grab him by the throat. I held the bloody creature by the throat watching it struggle against my strength. However, despite its attempt on my life I couldn't kill it. I couldn't harm another living creature (other than bugs because they suck). I took the squirrel to find a cage and seek medical attention for my jugular vein. He will be rehabilitated and kept as an attack squirrel for my enemies. Luckily he choked in enough time that I didn't die. I believe I will name him Luis (pronounced Loo-eece).

So, you see this is why I could not post yesterday as I was obviously busy. You may not believe this actually happened but let me ask you this: How on Earth could any one be so weird as to think of this story in a sitting? Clearly it must have happened. No one could possibly be that strange right.

As for the scar on my throat, I had a special doctor who was able to glue all my skin back so the scar will not be noticeable and all the healing will be under the skin flap. What a genius.

So, I would like to introduce you all to my new pet Attack Squirrel, Luis:

Letters to my Day: Volume 1

As I have no business in politics, let's get back to my true wheel house: Strange and Weird things that make little to no sense.

I would like to write a series of open letters to the area in which I work because I am leaving in two days and will be going to a new job a few block away. It doesn't sound so far but its a whole new set of things to learn.

Let's start at the beginning of my day.

Dear Alarm Clock,

F@#% you. I will not miss 5 am at all. I will see you in two weeks when I have to go back to work. But for now, shut up and stop being so bright.

Sincerely,
Tanya

Dear School Bag,

I use you because if I didn't I would forget all my passes and keys. I think we work well together, however I would like to know why the hell you are so heavy. There is nothing in you except two notebooks and my wallet and we all know I have no money. Be less heavy you porker.

Sincerely,
Tanya

Dear Mom's Jeep,

Thank you for allowing me to sit in you all the time. However stop leaking oil because it smells bad and makes people nervous.

Sincerely,
Tanya

Dear Bus Witch,

I look forward to having a couple weeks to rid myself of all your voodoo curses you have been mumbling at me every day as you exit the bus. I am almost sure you will still be there should I return, but if you could maybe use your witch craft for good and let me win the lottery I would totally buy you a broomstick so you wouldn't have to ride the bus anymore.

Sincerely,
Tanya

Dear Miscellaneous Bus Drivers,

Every time I get used to one of you, you switch out drivers. That is fair because it is kind of the worst bus route ever. I would like to suggest that you stop using the smaller buses for a route that clearly needs a big one, and also when you pull away from the curb, stop being so evil and wobbly. I fall and its embarrassing and painful.

Sincerely,
Tanya

Dear Newspaper Man,

Good luck and I hope people are nicer to you. Don't let the stuck up downtown people get you down. You should probably get a puppy or a small monkey, I hear that works for other people. Not that you are a beggar, but people love puppies. Better yet, give me a puppy and then I would take all of your newspapers to train my puppy. Do you see how this is a win win situation? I am so smart sometimes.

Sincerely,
Tanya

Dear Tim Horton's Lady,

It is both an honour and an embarrassment that you now know exactly what I want and get it before I even have to say anything. Thank you for not seeming like your judging me even though you probably are.

Sincerely,
Tanya

We haven't even made it into my office yet. Clearly a lot of people have a big impact on me every single day. I think I will come back to this a bit later as the emotion is too much. Well, it would be if I were capable of feeling emotions like a normal person. Although I don't think normal people care about bus witches. That just shows you how nice of a person I am. Sort of.

Stop eating so many pennies back pack. Too freakin' heavy.

Attack Monkeys

Because each and everyone of you failed to provide questions for me, the Q&A is not going to happen. If I was better at twitter I am sure I could find some there. Instead I will just tell you about my tiny notebook.

I have a little tiny note book. Well I have many of them. I buy them in packs of two at Staples for a few cents and they amuse me. They are tiny composition notebooks and I have used them for a variety of things.

I use ones for tracking what I eat in a day when I am being a good and smart dieter. I use one for writing down book ideas and plot points. And I now have one for my blog. So, mother, that is where my drawings go.

This tiny notebook has most of my post-it drawings stuck into the pages as well as various notes of things I can write about one day.

The main problem with this notebook is that my notes never make sense. I write them, and then forget about them for a week and when I look back at them I no longer remember what the hell "Google Attack Monkeys" means. However I will look into it because I am a responsible writer.

Oh right. how awesome and terrible is this? You have one monkey all distractingly adorable, and this guy is all "Oh, tiny monkey, you are so cute. Would you like a small snack?" All the while his second in command is all "STICK TO THE FACE BITCH!" and then poor guy is all unconscious and the monkeys steal your shoes.

So moral of the story is ... I keep my crazy in a tiny notebook. Its safer that way.

Its so full of crazy that is leaks out a bit.

Back to School

This year is the first year I am not enrolled in school in 4 years. Before that, I did correspondence / a semester of college and before that, I was in high school. So needless to say, this September feels a little empty.

I am sure once October comes and everyone I know is freaking out in midterms and assignments and all I have to worry about is what my Nano novel will be about or if we have enough Halloween candy stocked up I will be fairly pleased. It's just that right now, I feel very strange.

I don't want to be in school at all. I never enjoyed school the way most people who pay six grand a year are supposed to. I don't really enjoy learning about things when I am expected to retain and regurgitate it. I have known for a while that I would not be able to go for my masters right away which without it renders my degree mostly useless. I don't even really know if I will ever go, for many reasons, including money, time, effort and my marks aren't good enough to even get in anyways. But, I can't say that I never will because in theory, having a masters would make me sound fairly smart - won't necessarily make me smart, but I could fool the masses.

So, all this to say is I don't miss school at all, but some how I still feel like I should be there.

Now, on the other hand, I started university two years later then most people do. I had been out in the real world for almost two full years before I stepped foot in a university classroom. Not only was I out of the high school frame of mind, but I had all kinds of crazy situations that had probably made me age ten years. Keep in mind, that I hate teenagers when I was a teenager and I think you can see the issue.

Going to school in first year for me, was like babysitting without getting paid. It was like I was stuck in a room of toddlers and for some reason was paying thousands to be there. Now, I do admit I am not the most mature person out there. Not even close. But having to spend the first month of my school year sitting in a giant auditorium behind ditsy blond ass holes who only talk about how awesome prom was almost killed me. I have problems paying attention. Classrooms are kind of the worst place for me to be in because the second someone is playing solitaire on their laptop in front of me I no longer care what the teacher says, so if the blond idiots who will never pass first year are constantly flipping through their skanky prom pictures my brain can do nothing except watch and think of snarky remarks.

Here is a small tip for teenagers entering University/college: If you want to look at pictures or play games, no one cares I promise. Just sit at the back. I don't know who you think you are kidding, but if you sit at the front and play pac man, people will see and then they can't focus. Also, get over prom. It happened, you were probably so drunk and it was so funny, but its over. Get over it.

Needless to say I am in a bad mood. As I walked to work this morning I saw a small fleet of Frosh week people standing in my way. This alone wouldn't be so bad, however they dared to start to sing Spice Girls. I know everyone loves the Spice Girls and that I have no right to claim them on behalf of my generation, but when you are not even old enough to have tried on platform sneakers when they were popular, please don't sing their songs at those who were. Or if you are going to sing their songs, at least sing them right because its offensive not to. They are an international treasure and deserve some respect.

But, teenagers as you enter university/college remember this one thing: Don't be an I.D.I.O.T. If you aren't going to pay attention in class, don't go. Unless attendance is marked and then go, but leave at the break.

This is a long ranty post about stupid teens. Hopefully if you are a teen and you are reading this, you will be less annoying to the people around you. but chances are if you made it far enough to this point you are not the ones I am talking about, you are probably one like I was who hates their own kind.

Good Luck at school young folks!

This is a picture of me infiltrating the I.D.I.O.T group and slowly burning them until they get less annoying.
Some call it torture, some call it operant conditioning.
Thank you Bachelor in Psychology for teaching me how to train people.
20 grand well spent.

Walk This Way

You can tell a lot about a person by the way they walk, but only if you can identify the signs. Here to help you is a guide to some of the more popular styles of walking.

The Earthquake:
This person steps in a manner not only allowing everyone to know they are coming, but they manage to shake the entire building as they move. Each slow and laboured step slams against the carpet/pavement/tile/wood floor and sends the reverberations as far as the surface continues sounding as though the T-Rex from Jurassic Park is about to eat your Jeep.  These people are often self-important and feel as though everyone around them should know they are coming. Alternatively, they may just be really overweight and their legs cannot quite manage a graceful decent.

The Ballerina:
This person tends to walk on their toes at all times. They are quiet and quick in their movements but they always look like they are about to do something evil due to their sneaky nature. As their slinky steps would indicate, this person tends to be of a devious disposition, continuous prepared to run away should their plan backfire. Alternatively, this person is wearing high heels and will fall if they rely on the small sliver of support. Secondary alternative, but far less likely, they have no heels due to a battle with robot sock monkeys.

The Mechanic:
This is a person who has a determined and speedy walk. They typically have somewhere to go, or at least look as though they do. They are not necessarily mechanics per day, however they may be considered as capable of fixing things, whether they be personal problems, work problems, or problems of how to get more snacks in the fridge. They take long steps at a quick pace the the average three year old needs to be in a full out run to keep up. Their basic walk is about as fast as most peoples speed walk. They are typically an efficient people, or at least they are efficient at getting places in a decent amount of time.

The Frump:
This is a person who walks with their shoulders slouching and their head dropping. They look like at any time they can curl up and sleep. They have no speed in their walk and typically meander slowly and randomly until they somehow arrive at their destination. By then they cannot remember why they are there and tend to spend the first five minutes figuring out their purpose.

The Penguin:
As this person waddles their way in front of your path you find yourself increasingly frustrated by their inconsistent trajectory and obnoxious wobble. As they make their way through the halls or up the sidewalk, moving as fast as a Weeble Wobble you should note that this person is probably one of two things: an inconsiderate jerk-nugget who has no consideration for the human race, or a really large person whose legs cannot bend or they will snap so they are forced to project themselves forward with their body weight.

The Royal:
This is a type of person who consistently walks with their nose in the air and is far too important to watch where they are going. Often snotty and rude, they tend to get upset by those who dare cross their path and force them to stop and slap someone with their perfectly pressed white glove. The only exception and allowance to this, is the Queen. She can do whatever the hell she pleases because she owns everything. Not technically anymore, but you know if you piss her off she could have you captured and stored in a honey jar. Don't F@#* with her.

The Race Car:
This person, similar to the Mechanic move quickly, however the race car is less effective. Where the Mechanic has a purposeful driven walk, the Race Car is simply speeding around people because they can. Often found to be swerving in and out of fellow pedestrians, the Race Car is the cause of many people-collisions and stubbed toes. These people are mostly just jerks, but sometimes they are Mechanics-in training, and soon enough their quick pace will be followed by purpose.

The Sloppy Joe:
Similar to the Frump, this person does not move with much purpose or speed, however instead of keeping their head down and avoiding people, the Sloppy Joe flops all over the path in an inconsistent and unpredictable manner. They will take time to check out all the items on either side of the aisle in a super market while simultaneously blocking the middle, they will wander from side to side on the sidewalk not allowing you to pass, and in general they just never move and have no idea what is going on. They probably think they are funny and friendly, but really they are just an ass.

The I.D.I.O.T.
This is a combination of a Sloppy Joe, a Royal, a Race Car with a touch of Earthquake and occasionally Penguin. This is the I.D.I.O.T. If you don't remember what this stands for, please read this. These young people are the ones who think that the whole world revolves around them and that no one else in the world has anything more important to do then stop in the middle of an intersection to discuss Twilight. They don't seem to understand that cars are bigger then them, and that people hate them.

So those are some of the basic types, there are many more.

There is one extra bonus type that is only accessible to a select few and only in dire situations.

Fair Skills:
Only available on a need-to-use basis, Fair Skills allow you to temporarily act like a Race Car but get away so fast that by the time people are annoyed you are long gone. Only for using in extremely crowded situations such as the Fair, or exiting large public events where if you do not make it to the other end quickly you will be stuck in traffic, or be late for something. You need to pass a test to be allowed to use this skill as it is beyond complex. There are only three known to date that possess this skill high enough to be deemed Fair Skills. Their identities must be kept secret for their safety.

24

I am offically 24 years old now. I know yesterday was my birthday but I don't think I was born until 9pm so it wasn't really a full day. Also I didn't post anything yesterday so shh. In celebration of that the day in which I aged another year, I shall attempt to think up 24 facts about me for you to know.

  1. I really LOVE Batman. The Adam West Batman is my very favourite. It's just too epic not to love. This is obvious, but whatever..
  2. I was raised by a Trekkie, so everytime I see things like "pages 7 of 9" I giggle. Also if there is the word Data I giggle.
      1.   I didn't even really watch the show.
  3. When my dog had puppies 12 years ago, she had 9 of them. I named my favourite Seven because I thought it was clever. Although he was a boy.
  4. Despite what you may think, I am actually a very hard worker. I just happen to get my work done TOO fast and then there is none left.
  5. I hate cooking
  6. I hate doing laundry
  7. I don't mind baking sometimes if it isn't too complicated and there aren't too many dishes involved
  8. I started my comic book collection just this year because DC reset everything so I could jump in easier. I now collect Batman, Justice League and Detective Comics. I have Batgirl too but I haven't read any yet.
  9. I no longer drink caffiene on a regular basis. I used to be addicted (legitimately, would have withdrawal symptoms in the mornings without it) to diet coke and would need to drink disgusting quanities. I now drink diet 7up and should probably work on giving that up because in all honesty aspertame is probably not so great.
  10. I think that back to school shopping is the best. I love buying new binders and pens and blue pencils every year. So much so that I bought a couple things this year even though I am done school.
  11. I don't think pandas look real. They look like people in a panda suit.
  12. I really want a pug and I am so close to getting one even though its probably a bad plan.
  13. I like to go walking in the rain a lot.
  14. I always get a kick out of people sneezing really loudly in stores when you can hear them three aisles over.
  15. The first big super hero movie I remember watching (Other than the reruns of batman on TV) was Xmen. I went with my friend from elementary school when she visited after moving to Halifax. We got a free comic book and I still have it. It is actually out in my office right on my shelf. Needless to say, I fell in love with super heroes.
  16. I am beyond excited for the Avengers to come out on DVD. I am going to acquire the one with the most special features. I think Crystal wants to get it for me for my birthday but that seems like a lot to ask for...
  17. I try to carry a notebook with me everywhere I go just in case I have an idea. Also, my cellphone has a little notepad app in case I don't have a pen.
  18. I have a strange love of elephants. I find them very comforting and calming.
  19. I love walking through forrests.
  20. I have an anxiety disorder so I have really stupid panic attacks over really stupid things, even things I love like walking in forrests. Its crazy annoying.
  21. I want to meet Adam West and get his autograph.
  22. I have grown impatient in my job and cannot tollerate the stpuidity from some of my coworkers. I can no longer keep my "customer service face" on and pretty much just give a confused and displeased face everytime certain people speak to me. Luckily they are too dumb to notice.
  23. I kind of want to move to BC. Even though I have never been there, I am pretty sure that is where I want to live some day.
  24. It takes about 90% of my daily energy to simmply get to and stay at work because I hate it so much. Only two more weeks though! I am so excited it hurts in my chest. Although that could be a heart murmur. Its not decided yet.
So theres twenty four things for you. Lists are kind of fun. I don't think these things make sense as a list. But thats how it becoems a list, because I don't make sense, my brain doesn't think in patterns that make sense so then you get random lists like this and that is probably why you are reading this, because you are also bored at work and trying to convince your brain you need money to live.

The After-Lunch Blues

Does anyone else feel like their productivity declines after lunch?

I know of a few who also feel the same, however I was wondering if this was a big phenomenon .

It doesn't make a super amount of sense to me even though it happens to me. I tend to get a bunch of work done when I get here at 7, and then I slow down for a while because no one else is at work yet so they haven't sent me anything to do. Then they send me things and I get them done just before lunch. Then its snack time and that's nice. After it usually isn't until an hour after generally accepted lunch hour ends that I start to get anything else, and even still its never anything big. Then I leave really early in the day so I don't see the 4:00 pm rush, and I just deal with it at 7 the next day.

The problem with this is, I am a million times more alert in the afternoon then the evening. Yes, of course I just want to go home but I have a bigger attention span later in the day.

I have even tested it before, and if I get the same amount of sleep going to bed at 9pm until whenever, I will be more tired then if I get an hour or two less going to bed at 1am. I just sleep better later at night and its horribly inconvenient when you have to wake up at 5:15am.

In other news, the lady at Tim Horton's officially knows what I get. Which means I need to stop going there because that is embarrassing. I am pretty sure all the Tim Horton's people are all giggling at the chubby girl with big hair coming in to buy her snacks everyday, sometimes twice a day.  This is why my pants are snug. Stupid common sense, start working harder and make me crave celery. You lazy bastard.

Evil Chocolate Chip Muffin - so addictive, so delicious.

Almost time to try to go to another Tim's so they won't learn my face!

Pigeon's Kryptonite

Why do pigeons exist? I know the world is all in balance and things usually exist for a reason, but can someone please explain to me why the pigeon exists.

They are everywhere downtown and I am beginning to think that their sole purpose in life is to chase around nervous people and make them uncomfortable.

Here is how a typical day goes for me walking home from work (because even the pigeons aren't awake as early as I am so they aren't around in the morning very often).

I am listening to music power walking my way out of the building, when suddenly... an enormous pigeon jumps into the sidewalk in front of me. I quickly try to dodge his impossible to predict motions when he turns his bobbling gaze towards me, quickening his pace and heading straight for my new path. I try to change my direction but it is too late, other workers have begun to file out of the building and are blocking me from any changes.
The pigeon, now seeing my frail and vulnerable state, pecks towards me in a confident and almost arrogant manner. As our paths finally cross he stops. He stops in the exact place where my foot had intended to land. As I stand awkwardly, paused and holding my hoot high in the air to avoid stepping on the pigeon, I notice the tiny backpack strapped to him.
This is no ordinary pigeon, should my foot drop and touch this pigeon in any slightest way, he will explode in a tiny controlled Tanya-specific explosion. I hold my foot higher once noticing the pressure sensitive bag, scanning for a break  in the crowds so that I can turn and escape.
The pigeon lets out a menacing and bone chilling cry, no doubt informing his team that he has me captured. As the other pigeons begin the march in to finish me off my heart begins to race.
My foot begins to shake from holding it in the air when the lady who collects cigarette butts off the ground appears to my right, staring at me with a glazed and cold expression. This could go one of two ways, I thought to myself, she is either here to help me, or them. I tried to deduce an answer from the blank stare but none could be found.
The lady then reached into a pocket and pulled out an old french fry. The attack pigeon cocked its head to the side at the sight and with a quick flick of the lady's wrist the bird was chasing the golden stick through the air.
I dropped my foot and turned to say thank you to the lady, but she was gone. Vanished into the crowds. I ran to the bus before the pigeons could corner me again, but I knew that the next time I saw the cigarette butt collector I would need to offer her my thanks. I knew the pigeons would try again, but I also now knew their kryptonite.
From that day forward I never left work without a french fry in my pocket.

Obviously I am destined to be an author of the next great American novel - even though I am Canadian. That makes it even more fancy you know.

Better luck next time you evil bastard.

Lady Dracula

Today when I was leaving work I saw the blood bank people set up in the lobby again.

I guess its good to give blood, and if I wasn't crazy terrified of needles I would probably do it. However, I have a horrible phobia of them, and phobias + anxiety disorder = extra crazy so its best to just ignore the blood bank people. So, take what you want when I die, kidneys, liver whatever (although I can't promise they are in good condition) but please let me keep my blood now?

However today, when I saw the blood bank people roaming around I began to think perhaps it was all a conspiracy and that they were all vampires.

This is how it happened.

Me: *zooming off the elevators because I am fast, and I almost run into the sneaky blood lady/ lady Dracula

Lady Dracula: Oh sorry dear, care to sign up to give blood

Me: *terrified look and backs away as I notice her super fangs* No thanks

Lady Dracula: Oh but its for... the good of all the people.

Me: *nervous face*

Lady Dracula: *shows teeth and turns into a bat clawing my face partially off and collects the blood in a tiny glass bowl, screeching out to the small flock of baby vampire bats on the desk so they can come drink the stupid girls face blood. Then Lady Dracula-bat soars up to the second floor balcony to harass the people of second cup and tell them how she tricked the stupid girl in the yellow shoes to give up all her face blood.*

Needless to say I had a rough afternoon.

This totally happened... in my imagination.

It's dangerous up in there.
