Movie Dreams

Dreams are the strangest things.

Last night I had a Dream that I was going to Yale and for some reason I was discussing this after doing a triathlon.  Because the thing to do after a triathlon is reminisce with people you no longer talk to about how fun it is to go to Yale. I need to finish Gilmore Girls. I starting to do that thing I do often when I watch too much TV or movies.

I tend to have dreams which star the characters of the television series / movies I have been watching. And usually it takes place in the movie or TV show in some scene where I tend to interact with the characters changing the plot of the movie completely and then making it twenty times more interesting.

The problem with this is that as the movie gets interesting and fascinating in the dream land, I wake up. I never find out how the new better version of the movie ends. It is the worst thing ever. Have you ever been watching the best movie ever or the greatest television show only to have the DVD player break or the cable to go out? I have about 5000 movies and episodes of TV that I will never get to finish because I woke up.

Worse then the not finishing is forgetting which "movies" are real and which aren't. I constantly have arguments with people of when I try to explain what happen and they tell me I am crazy. Like the time that the cast of FRIENDS traveled via flying monkeys to the North Pole and helped save Christmas.  Apparently, despite owning all ten seasons it never happened.

Anyways, I am being a bad blogger and not paying attention to this properly. Its just because as previously mentioned my brain is exploded a bit. Also that thing is still under my keyboard and it moves every few hours and then a new button is jammed which is an unpleasant surprise.

NaNo and Productivity

So its another yellow day and we are getting close to the lovely weekend. So close, but still so very far.

My stomach is making a lot of noise today, gurgling and grumbling as though its trying to digest angry rhinos and I wish it would stop.

I don't feel overly productive today so that's a problem. I keep looking for jobs and its such a challenge trying to find something that doesn't sound horrible and that isn't an two hours away, and also pays well enough to keep me from becoming a homeless bridge troll. I guess I do feel productive, just the wrong kind of productive. I am in the mood to write today. Well, at least in the mood to work on my story preparations for NaNoWriMo.

NaNoWriMo, for those who don't know, is a month long personal competition in November where you challenge yourself to write a 50000 (yes fifty thousand) word novel in one month. I only discovered it last year when I was looking for writing resources because I wanted to start my novelling process and when I found it I don't think I could have been anymore excited. I am pretty sure I drove all the people who knew I was doing it crazy but it was worth it. In one month of thirty days I wrote a novel, from start to finish of 93000 words. (I cannot remember the exact number and my Internet is being fussy so I can't go check right now) but its a lot okay. It was probably one of the hardest and most fun things I have ever done and for sure one of the most rewarding.

I spent a good month planning out my novel, developing back stories and families for all of my characters (even the minor ones) and building the world in which my story would take place. Then, when November hit and my novel started to progress, almost everything changed.  Character plans switched, plots were dropped, plots were invented on the spot, connections were made, characters added, everything changed and yet it still retained the basic points I had wanted so it was good enough.

The absolute best part about Nano is that you are not supposed to care about quality. You can write whatever you want, any kind of redundant gibberish and it still counts. Although this was very hard for me as a notorious perfectionist, it was very liberating to be allowed to flounce around in the world of babble, allowing all the crazy scenarios in my head be used for good instead of for crazy.

Anyways, the point of this story is that if you have ever wanted to write you should TRY IT. It is so great and challenging and even more rewarding then monkey trained to make ice cream sundays. The bigger point is, today is going to be a  long day and I think the only way I can survive it is living half in my fantasy world in my mind.

Oh, side note. I suggest not promising someone they can read it/giving it as a Christmas gift. It then puts a lot of pressure and makes you feel really silly and paranoid about everything you wrote at 3am all month. But that could be because I am crazy, because most authors want people to read their work. Just word to the wise: give yourself time to edit, November-December is not enough.

Adjective Stealing Monkeys

Interviewing for your ideal position is so overwhelming.

First, you arrive too early and need to stall five minutes outside so you don't look like a crazy, desperate, idiot who knows nothing of basic etiquette.

Then you get there, already self conscious because you are really not dressed appropriately because you have no money to buy any nicer clothes, you don't really like nicer clothes, and you had no time to go shopping because you spent all day yesterday at home hiding with your puffy eye.

Then after you arrive you have that obligatory five minute wait for the person to come out of their office to come greet you. You try to sit and look interested without looking like a crazy stalker and awkwardly sit so your pants don't fall off. You then have the handshake that probably determines your success of the interview, should you squeeze to hard- done, too soft- done, miss and grab fingers - done. I was taught in grade 5 by Mr. Gunnell how to properly shake a hand. I try to hard but people always grab to soon and squeeze my fingers.

Then you are brought the awkward small-talk walk back to the interview room and hopefully, as mine was today remember that the person you are meeting with initially is really quite nice. Then they ask you questions about your desires for the job and then, all you preparedness is stolen from your brain by evil monkeys that are specifically built to ruin your opportunities in life.

No matter what the questions the monkeys steal all your adjectives and adverbs leaving you with one or two if you are really lucky, and get to repeat yourself over and over with the same two words that aren't really good descriptive words of your actual capabilities.

You take all this time to prepare and research the position, especially when its a pretty good fit for what you want, but then the evil ruining monkeys steal your charisma.

I really wish my interview went better today, however I must admit it was excellent experience and practice even if it didn't go well. Both the people I met with were very nice and should I be chosen for this position despite the brain draining monkeys I would be so excited.

I will be ready for you next time brain draining monkeys... You better watch your hairy backs!

Sunday is a Dirty Trick.

Ten things I would rather do then go to work tomorrow:

1. go to the dentist
2. have blood taken
3. give a massage to a fat old man with back hair and tiny monkeys stuck in his skin folds
4. clean my office (no I haven't done that yet, don't yell at me I will get there...)
5. shave my head
6. run a marathon
7. eat a banana (stupid devils fruit)
8. learn a new language and be forced to present to their leader the importance of their continued alliance with Canada in which my failing to convince them would commence a battle.
9. perform surgery on a batman
10. live off of only cold scrambled eggs for 6 months.

Do you see how much my job is stupid?

Dave and I watched most of Office Space last night and it made me a bit nervous that I easily hate my job twelve and half times more than the lead character and that I would feel absolutely no guilt in stealing 300000$ from my company should I have the knowledge of how to do it. Granted, I would never be able to do that, nor would I because I lied, I would totally feel guilt... It would probably follow me around like a hunchback possum screaming in my ear once every hour and that would make my days pretty uncomfortable at best.

Sunday is a nasty trick. you wake up all happy you have another day off but the closer it gets to bed time the more you realize that you wasted the last two days and that you have not done literally any of the thousand things you promised you would do. My office is still a disaster, My laundry is not even done (I did put in one load though! Yay me? PS Who ever thought that laundry should go in the basement needs a solid slap to the forehead. Who the hell wants to walk their clothes down some stairs only to walk them back up an hour and a half later? Anyways this tangent wont help anything.) Also, I am no where near packed for our trip. I don't have a single clue where my camera charger is and that is unacceptable.

At least my car is finally fixed. Now I need to get used to driving like a regular adult again and not like a prepubescent boy stealing the car when their parents go to the neighbours to drink wine coolers and discuss the latest episode of Game of Thrones. I really need to start watching that to see what all the fuss is about.

Anyways, until tomorrow folks!

PS: I love to push the spell check button and watch my post turn completely yellow. I suck at spelling/typing.
